Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Quasar (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service.

2. Description of service

Quasar is a web-based platform that generates editable flashcard decks from YouTube videos using AI. The Service includes the Quasar website, associated subdomains, and any related applications provided by Quasar. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to create an account and use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent.

4. Account obligations

When you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. Specifically, you may not:

  • Use the Service to process content you do not have the right to use
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or mine the Service without permission
  • Introduce viruses, malware, or any other harmful code
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices on the Service
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law

6. Intellectual property

Your content: You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Service (“User Content”). By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited license to use, store, and process it solely to provide and improve the Service. You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to submit your User Content.

Generated flashcards: Flashcards and decks generated by Quasar from public YouTube videos are derived content. You are responsible for ensuring your use of generated content complies with applicable copyright law, including YouTube’s Terms of Service.

Quasar’s IP: The Service, including its design, features, logos, and name, are the intellectual property of Quasar and may not be used without our prior written consent.

7. Paid subscriptions

Quasar offers free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed on a recurring monthly basis unless you cancel before the next billing cycle. You authorize us to charge the payment method on file for all fees.

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods, except as required by law.

We reserve the right to change the pricing of any plan. We will provide at least 30 days’ notice before any price increase takes effect.

8. Quotas and fair use

Each plan includes monthly quotas for AI-powered features (deck generations, chat messages, audio transcription, etc.). Quotas reset at the beginning of each billing cycle. We enforce quotas server-side and they may not be circumvented. Excessive automated usage may result in throttling or account suspension.

9. Service availability

We strive to keep the Service available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any downtime.

10. Third-party services

The Service depends on third-party services including but not limited to YouTube (for video data), OpenAI (for AI processing), and Firebase (for infrastructure). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of any third-party service.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any content generated will be accurate or suitable for your needs.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, QUASAR AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, AND EMPLOYEES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH DAMAGES WERE FORESEEABLE OR WHETHER WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU (IF ANY) IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Quasar and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

14. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time, without prior notice, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service immediately ceases
  • Your account data may be deleted at our discretion
  • Any outstanding fees remain due

You may delete your account at any time from the account settings page.

15. Modifications to terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Quasar is registered, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
